Gina Gregory, a former City Hall spokesperson for Mayor Mike Dow, received a $670 contribution from the outgoing four-term mayor's soon-to-retire campaign committee in her race for the Mobile City Council District 7 seat, according to a pre-election campaign finance report.

The Gregory campaign also benefited from a $1,000 contribution by The Committee to Re-Elect Fred Richardson. The incumbent District 1 city councilman, Richardson is unopposed in seeking his third full term on the council.

Ms. Gregory, now public relations director for MDI Media Group, is one of seven candidates battling to win the council seat now held by John Peavy. Peavy is running for mayor.

Ms. Gregory's campaign opened the filing period with a balance of $6,080.68 and raised an additional $15,190 in cash contributions. Her campaign closed the period with a balance of $6,755.44. She spent $14,515.24 over the past six weeks in trying to win public office for the first time.
Candidates are required to report their campaign's financial activities within five to 10 days before the election.

Others bidding for the District 7 seat are police captain Eddie Burrow, radio personality Shane McBryde, restaurateur Mead Miller, housing board employee Henry Slade, engineer Stephen Hand and the lowkey Robert W. Pitts, Jr
