Miller files financial report in District 7 City Council race

Mobile restaurateur Mead P. Miller is financing much of his campaign for the District 7 seat on the Mobile City Council himself with loans of almost $6,300, according to his latest campaign finance report.

Miller, the 58-year-old co-owner of a pair of Picklefish restaurants,  reported expenditures of $8,542.85 and a closing balance of $538.45.

His campaign showed cash contributions for the period of $2,150.

Miller is one of seven candidates seeking to succeed City Councilman and mayoral candidate John Peavy. Other contenders are police captain Eddie Burrow, public relations advisor Gina Gregory, engineer Steve Hand, radio personality Shane McBryde, Robert W. Pitts Jr. and Mobile Housing Authority employee Henry Slade.

The election is Tuesday. A runoff, if necessary, would take place Sept. 13.

Among Miller's contributors during the latest filing period were:

Miller's expenditures included $1,500, David Calametti; $678.53, ABC Signs; $1,078.40, Mobile Register; $974.83, Gwins; $1,250, David Calametti; $1,078.40, Mobile Register; and $612, Clear Channel.
