Mobile company chosen
to restore Beauvoir Mansion
A Mobile company will restore Beauvoir Mansion, a national landmark and the home of Jefferson Davis, which was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast in Biloxi, MS.
The Lathan Company last week was awarded a contract to completely restore the historic mansion which was recently placed on the National Trust for Historic Places list of 11 Most Endangered Sites.
A contract signing ceremony was held last week on the grounds of the Beauvoir Mansion, 2244 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, MS. The contract exceeds $4 million.
Jerry Lathan said he was excited and honored for his company to win the contract, calling it an historical opportunity. He pledged that his team of specialists and employees that will bring Beauvoir, a part of our country’s history, back to life.
The Lathan Company is a 25-year-old national award-winning Mobile-based firm founded by Lathan of Theodore. He remains its CEO. Originally an industrial roofing company, The Lathan Company expanded into historic restoration more than 10 years ago.

- The Presbytere Museum and the Pontalba Apartments at Jackson Square, New Orleans, LA;
- The Pierre Du Pont Mansion of Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia, PA;
- The Carrollton Street Car Barn in the Garden District of New Orleans, LA;
- The old Escambia County Courthouse in Pensacola, FL;
- The historic Library at both the University of Florida and Florida State University.
