I am a 'committed convention junkie.' I love the idea that Democrats from every 'nook and cranny' of our great nation assemble in one place to nominate a candidate for President.
During the past 40 years that I have been attending these historic events, I have made many lasting friendships and one of the things I enjoy most is renewing these old friendships and making new ones. I am fortunate that many of these old friends include me on their invitation lists for various, exciting and interesting functions.
On Sunday, I attended two such events. For lunch, there was a fascinating panel discussion that included Tom Brokaw, Bob Schieffer, George Stephanopoulos and Judy Woodruff. Later in the day, I attended a reception for the numerous foreign leaders who are here in Denver for the convention. When I was introduced to the French Ambassador to the U. S., I was delighted when he smiled and immediately wanted to talk about the tanker project.
On Monday, Darby and I have a full schedule, including a luncheon with Congressman Artur Davis and Speaker of the California Assembly, Karen Bass. Following that event, Darby and I look forward to attending the opening night of the Convention.
