U.S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-AL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $54,526 to the Saraland Fire Rescue Department in Mobile County.
The funding is provided by the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.
“It is essential that Alabama’s first responders have the tools and training necessary to safely protect our communities,” said Shelby. “The Saraland Fire Rescue Department will use this funding for operations and safety. This grant is evidence of our nation’s continued commitment to our first responders.”
These funds have been awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year.
